It’s nearly time for ANZGOG’s Previous Chair, Professor Michael Quinn, AM imminent retirement from practice. But he is not quite finished yet! After 20 years of fundraising, during which time he has been responsible for raising more than a million dollars, he says he has one more challenge in him.
On 20 September, Michael and 19 friends – 4 women and 15 men – are leaving from Normandy to travel to the Mediterranean (Nice) traversing a number of little mountains (known as the French Alps) on the way! The average age of this bunch is more than it was for last year’s ride…66 years young!
So this time, it is ‘Guys ‘n Gals GO ride for Gynae’, a gender combination which Michael has no doubt will ensure the calibre of the conversations will be much higher, the interactions more gentle and the daily grind less competitive. With 20 people hailing from Australia and the US, the challenge will be the 1,430km ride, some of which is over the Alps and includes a 1,500 metre ascent up Mont Vertnoux. They have already started training…
Please support this last endeavour. Once again Michael and his team will be supporting ANZGOG’s gynae cancer research.
Collectively they aim to raise $200,000 for ANZGOG’s New Research Fund (promoting innovative new research into gynaecological cancer). No mean feat, but neither are the French Alps with a two wheeler!
Thank you so much for your ongoing support of research into gynaecological cancer.
Prof Michael Quinn and the ‘GO Ride for Gynae’ team in 2015 raised more than $130,000 for gynae cancer research! Click here for more information about their challenge.
